East New Britain to hold regional softball titles

 EAST NewBritain begins the road to the 2014 national softball titles in Port Moresby over the Queen’s birthday weekend with the staging of the ENB regional softball challenge. 

Ten men’s and six women’s teams will battle it out at the Takubar softball diamonds for a chance at the K22,500 prize money. 

Tournament director Meli Tamlik said the tournament was restricted to the province with Lihir the only outside team. 

Tamlik said all games will be completed by Sunday and the finals on Monday with the cup winners taking K6,000 in each division. 

“The runners-up get K3,000, third place K1,500 and fourth K750 in both divisions,” Tamlik said.

Men: Lihir, Ivarak one and two, Black Pythons, Brown Eagles, Mini Chiefs, Strivers, Kabiu, Kikila Cats and TSC. 

Women: Bullets, Strivers, Kabiu-Rabaul and Kabiu Kokopo, Thunderbolts and Ivarak.
