East Sepik needs action

Letters

EAST Sepik agriculture farmers are living in a state of confusion because of Governor Allan Bird’s continuous lip service and extravagant sweet talks on NBC Radio Wewak about the vanilla and chocolate factories.
When are these agriculture commodity factories going to be built for downstream processing and by-products export to world overseas markets?
The European Union is here in East Sepik with the Boram hospital project at K320million, the agriculture and fisheries grant assistance of K340million as well as the water, sanitation and hygiene project.
These are massive investments from the EU.
Is it too difficult to sign a joint venture partnership with them and a company from Europe to build these long-awaited factories to process our raw vanilla and cocoa chocolate beans into finished products?
I can’t see any reason why Bird is taking too long to find a land and sign a memorandum of agreement with either an investor from Belgium or Switzerland to build our factories.
These vanilla and chocolate factories will generate billions in internal revenue for East Sepik’s budget rather than waiting for the Prime Minister James Marape’s treasury and finance officers.
I am of the view that our Governor is receiving poor advice and short-term plans which are given by incompetent bureaucrats in the department and his office.
Can the governor seek advice from elders and professionals in East Sepik and also think outside the box?

John Kriosaki, Wewak Town

  • Well done Brother JK, that is a very timely and good piece of advice. Governor Bird must take such good advices to heart and seek more of such advices from very genuine persons like John.
