THE Easter Cup sponsored by Moresby Northeast MP Andrew Mald throughout 16 locations in the National Capital District went smoothly and successfully during the Easter weekend.
Various competitions were held in these locations which included volleyball, basketball for men and women and touch rugby for men.
Inmates at the Bomana prison also celebrated Easter by being involved with sporting activities.
Northeast sports coordinator Rex Kuman yesterday confirmed that all sports activities were successful with the Cup finals set for tomorrow at Erima Sports Oval.
“It was trouble-free in the last three weeks leading to Easter weekend and we hope to continue tomorrow with the Cup finals for all sports,” he said.
After the Cup finals, Mald is expected to officiate at the presentation of awards to the winning teams.
Kuman said all community leaders and ward councillors had expressed gratitude to the MP for his initiative.
“The tournament has made a big difference in the community, especially with the rate of petty crimes hitting at various communities in Northeast electorate,” he said.
