THE Eastern bloc political alliance will put up a candidate for the prime ministership.
Spokesman John Kerenga Gugl yesterday said although Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio had invited Peter O’Neill to form the government, the Goroka-based group was intact.
He could not say how many members they had in the camp.
Gugl said some of their members had travelled to Alotau and Kokopo to see what O’Neill and PNG Party leader Belden Namah were up to.
“We welcome O’Neill and Namah to come to Goroka,” he said.
An activist and a regional candidate for the Chimbu provincial seat where counting is still under way, Gugl said they were not happy with Wednesday’s events at Government House and will join in the court proceedings “to stop parliament from electing a speaker and prime minister”.
He said today’s meeting of parliament would deny the people of NCD, Chimbu and Eastern Highlands to have a say in the election of a prime minister.
