Eastern Highlands commended for unity

TWO Eastern Highlands MPs have commended the people of the province and police for maintaining peace and unity during the festive period.
Daulo MP Pogio Ghate and Goroka MP Henry Ame yesterday thanked people of the eight districts and police for their “excellent efforts” during Christmas and New Year.
“I thank our policemen and women for keeping our towns and province free from accidents,” he said.
“I also thank the general public as responsible citizens for the peaceful festive season.”
Ame said he would work with the people of Goroka to deliver services in 2019.
Ghate said Eastern Highlanders were known as “peace-loving” people.
“If there is peace, business investments and tourism activities will boom in the province,” he said.
“I also want each and every one to take ownership of the province.
“As peace-loving people, we must prove show our uniqueness to other provinces and set high standards of discipline.
“I do not forget my people of Daulo district as we must remain united to stand tall and set high standards.”
Ghate urged everyone to put God first in their lives and strive for betterment of the community.
He also thanked police for performing an exceptional role in maintaining peace and unity during the festive season.
Eastern Highlands’ police commander David Seine Jnr thanked his policemen and women for working hard to ensure the province enjoyed peace and harmony during the festive season.
He also thanked youth leaders, church leaders, community leaders and businesses for their support.
