Easy part done for 600 teaching graduates

MORE than 600 students graduated with a Diploma in Primary Teaching from the Balob Teachers College in Lae this week.
Principal Jerry Hendigao said the motto of the college was “Balob to serve”.
“To serve means to serve with conviction to enhance personal, professional and intellectual development in the classrooms and surrounding communities,” he said.
He said Balob continued to produce a high number of teachers – more than any other teachers college in the country.
“You have been trained to face the reality of our country – walk for days to your school, climb mountains, and when you finally arrive at your school, no one will be there to meet you,” Hendigao said.
“There will be no houses to house you. Classrooms allocated to you will have no desks, no noticeboards and maybe no teacher’s tables and cupboards to store your belongings.
“These are all hindrances. But always remember our motto: Balob to serve.”
Bulolo MP Sam Basil praised the teachers and urged some to serve in Morobe.
