Education in PNG

AS Papua New Guinea’s education system is working well in producing a new era of literate under the Government’s tuition fee-free policy, we can now see that all our technical schools and colleges are filled.
The real challenge now is to get our university graduates on the market.
Some of our raw potentials have been given the chance through TFF. The challenge is to get these intellects into practical work.
It is my opinion that engaging university students (while studying) and coordinators/lecturers to work on given society problem, will enhance students’ learning and analytical skills on how to find solutions.
They will try to solve problems during their studies, and using more alternatives and techniques to solve a given problem, as they excel in their education career.
Once their studies are completed, students will work on solutions, rather than researching them.
Government agencies, industries and foreign investors should engage students and give them problems to work on while studying and hands-on experience while on holidays (industrial training).
From time to time, they will gradually come to meet society’s demands.
We have the potential to work on global challenges, if only we can provide solutions to our in-house problems first.
It is up to our Government to work with all parties to market our young intellect through engagement while studying.
