Education is key, invest in it

Letters

HUMANS are far more valuable when they are knowledgeable.
Education is a tool that has the potential to eradicate poverty and lawlessness in communities.
If there was no education then we would still live a traditional way of life.
Southern Highlands need an educated populace to eradicate illiteracy.
We need more people such as Ruel Yamuna, David Wereh, Jerry Agus, Wapu Sonk, Augustine Mano, McRonald Nale and Nema Yalo, just to name a few.
It is every student’s role to study and aim high.
If you are from Southern Highlands and have already attained a degree certificate, it is time to aim for a master’s degree or a higher qualification.
I admire reading an article of Dr Yalinu Poya, a woman from Pangia who completed her PhD in heterogeneous chemistry at the age of 27 at Glasgow University in Scotland.
She sets the record as the youngest Papua New Guinean to earn a PhD.
Yalinu’s work is being recognised all over the world and she was amongst top chemistry scientist on the planet that recently met in Germany.
Southern Highlands’ parliamentarians need to cultivate that spirit.
We need more lawyers in the judiciary arm of the government.
We need more barristers to serve as diplomats on foreign missions.
We need more engineers who can be able to solve complex engineering problems in our country.
We need more pilots for our rugged geographical setting.
Education is a weapon that destroys poverty.
