EDUCATION is the cornerstone to becoming a successful person but that cannot be achieved without the support of parents and teachers, a group of students have been told.
That was the message to students of St Joseph’s International Catholic College yesterday during the primary and secondary school recognition day.
Guest speaker Fr Ben Fleming from the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus reminded the students to be grateful for the love and support given to them by their parents.
“You have to be grateful for the guidance and support given by your teachers who help you in achieving the best of your ability,” he said.
He challenged the students to set their expectations for the New Year and the future.
“You have to ask yourself, what you want to do with your life.
“And it is important to know the value of knowing what education can do for you.
“Your goals are important and your education is the number one priority.”
Fleming told the students to “Never forget who helped you along the way”.
“And the reason why we are here today is for the school to reward and recognise those who have excelled and done well.”
The day started with distribution of awards for students in Prep to Grade 11
