Education leaders learn new skills

THE PNG Education Institute presented 50 leaders of technical and vocational institutions with leadership and financial management certificates.
Regional and provincial coordinators, inspectors, institution managers and received the certificates worth three credit points last week.
It is a unit under the Bachelor of School Management programme offered by the institute. Institute director Dr Zui Neofa said: “We are proud to partner with the division in providing the training.
“The training is significant. It is the first time for the institute to have conducted the training.
“The institute will continue to partner with education department to train teachers and develop professionals.”
Acting deputy education secretary Tvet and Unesco Wini Leka said the course was to teach leaders financial management “so money is controlled well within the institutions”.
He said the department had been spending a lot of money on consultants.
