Education to boost growth of districts

Papua

EDUCATION institutions will help boost the socio-development growth of districts and provinces, North Fly MP James Donald says.
“This is the reason why the International Training Institute was set up in Kiunga to discourage students from seeking education elsewhere.
“We now have Rumginai CHW which will be upgraded into a nursing college, a teachers’ college is being set up and soon a polytechnic college will be built,” he said.
Donald said his district authority (funded ITI students’ course fees with K150,000 last year and another K237,000 for this year’s tuition.
“North Fly DDA will continue to support ITI here, not elsewhere in the country,” he said during the campus convocation.
Donald said: “Education continues to be a priority for Western among others. The challenge now is to create jobs for graduates.”
Donald spoke at the presentation of certificates to 119 ITI graduates.
