THE National Gaming Control Board has assisted the Unggai-Bena District Sports Authority with a funding of K200,000.
Local MP Benny Allan received the cheque from the Gaming Board on behalf of the sports authority.
The MP’s office had written to the board asking for assistance to support sporting activities in Unggai-Bena.
The Gaming Board had provided similar support to various groups throughout Papua New Guinea.
In receiving the cheque, Allan said the funding was timely as it would assist the youths with their sporting activities in the district.
He said the funding would also be used to prepare Unggai-Bena youths for the PNG Games in Kokopo, East New Britain province, in November. It would also be used on the proposed Unggai-Bena rugby league competition.
Allan also committed K1,000 each  for any youths who get selected in Team Eastern Highlands for the Kokopo Games.
