EHP wants teachers with 2.4 GPA
NEW teachers in Eastern Highlands must have a 2.4 grade point average on the academic ratings on their certificates, provincial education adviser Thomas Jonduo says.
“We are recruiting graduates from colleges with 2.4 rating to deliver quality education for our children,” he said.
“We (also) screen each individual teacher’s academic performance records, their Grade 10 and Grade 12 certificates, teachers college academic transcripts, teachers’ provisional registration, medical, character and police reports before we allocate teaching positions to them,” he said.
Meanwhile, on teachers in Eastern Highlands affected by the auto-suspension from the payroll last fortnight, Jonduo said the education salary section had concluded that the teachers should blame themselves for not properly filling out the resumption of duty forms.
“The other reason is that most teachers in parts of Obura-Wonenara, Okapa and Lufa have their forms coming in late for input.
“We are still doing inputs for all of them. By pay 9 and 10, all of them will be on the payroll,” he said.
Jonduo said all the teachers should be on the payroll by pay nine and ten.
