EIGHT security guards have been charged with one count each of wilful damage for their part in a scuffle and unruly behaviour at the Jackson Airport’s domestic terminal on March 23.
National Capital District police confirmed that the charges were laid over the weekend after they were handed over to police by their employer Kuima Security Services (KSS).
In a statement, KSS Port Moresby branch manager Amos Laufili said, as a reputable security firm with more than 20 years of operation, its integrity was tarnished by some of its disgruntled employees who stormed the Jackson Airport last month regarding the engagement of another firm, Asila Security Services, by the National Airport Corporation (NAC).
KSS general manager Thomas Koni and Laufili handed over the eight suspects to the Police Criminal Investigation Division.
KSS managing director Anton Kaupa witnessed the handover and apologised to the Government, NAC and the people affected.
