Eight NCD schools for debate

EIGHT National Capital District schools have qualified for the 2012 Institute of Business Studies schools debate competition.
They are Marianville Secondary, Port Moresby International School, St Joseph’s International Catholic College, Don Bosco Technical School, Jubilee Secondary, Badihagwa, Kopkop College and Port Moresby National High School.
The competition started on Tuesday and went into the elimination round yesterday.
Central schools will start next week.
Themed “Voice of the youth for a better PNG”, debate topics include :
l    Face to face interaction is better than social networking;
l    It is possible to eradicate violence in the country;
l    Free education is the answer for better and greater development in PNG;
l    PNG should open its doors to immigrants;
l    State should claim total ownership of the land in PNG;
l    The only way to excel in education is through the use of latest technology;
l    Medical testing on animals does more good than harm; and
l    Deep sea mining will boost the economy of the country.
Mt Diamond Secondary, Kwikila Secondary, Sogeri Secondary, Kupiano Secon­dary, Mainohana Secondary, Iarowari and Laloki high schools will be competing in Central.  
Schools will be eliminated on day one. Semi-finals will be staged on the second day and final on Friday.
Schools from Kokopo, Alotau, Lae, Mt Hagen and Enga will be taking part as well.
