A NEW generation of the Toyota Hiace bus was launched at Ela Motors in Port Moresby last Thursday.
Ela Motors PNG chief executive officer Keiichiro Kuwabara said he was proud to witness the unveiling of Toyota’s brand new product.
“The all new Toyota Hiace is another mile stone for Toyota in PNG.”
Kuwabara said the Hiace tradition began in 1967 and since then had five generations of Hiace buses.
“Hiace now takes on another count with the new semi-bonneted designed to enhance more quality, durability, reliability, and safety,” he said.
He said 15 years had passed since the previous generation.
“The new Hiace has set a new global standard of a commercial commuted van,” he said.
“We will continue to meet the requirement of the people, and business here in PNG, through our product excellent and service.”
Ela Motors PNG national sales manager Chris Von Oppeln said the bus was designed to suit the most demanding conditions.
“The main thing here is that from a serviceability point of view, the engine is (at the) front, and not underneath the vehicle, so that creates less time for servicing as well.”
The bus comes with a two-year 40,000km service package.
“It is a massive saving for the owners, companies, and the corporate bodies buying this vehicle.”
