ELC-PNG hosts youth conference

THE Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea (ELC-PNG) national youth conference is the highest decision making body of all youth programmes that are coordinated and carried out  in all ELC-PNG congregations.
This year, the 14th national youth conference was hosted by the ELC-PNG Jiwaka district on Sept 21-27 at the new Milep Lutheran High School. 
ELC-PNG has 17 church districts that comprises a cross section of urban congregations such as Koki Lutheran church in Port Moresby, semi-urban congregations such as St Matthew Lutheran church at Two-Mile settlement of Lae and rural congregations such as Kanabea in the remote Kaintiba area of Gulf province.
According to the conference registrations, there were about 2,000 youth participants from all the cross section of communities throughout the country who gathered for the week-long conference under the theme ‘Youth walk the faith: Luke 24’.
The conference programme began with presentation by the programme officers of the ELC-PNG national office.
The highlight was the presentation of the framework of the new ELC-PNG national youth policy.
Each of the 17 districts will have their own plans to address.
ELC-PNG Madang district will host the next conference.
