A CHURCH elder has reminded people about the importance of prayer after a public bus he was in narrowly avoided a head-on collision with another vehicle in Lae on Tuesday.
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea (ELCPNG) Gabensis congregation church leader Jonah Ninchib said prayer should be considered as a shield for everyone, especially today, in the General Election 2022 (GE22) period.
“There is violence and chaos everywhere in the general election and people don’t care about each other’s lives,” he said.
Ninchib with other passengers were travelling in a 25-seater bus from Gabensis down to Lae where they almost collided with a highway truck that was driving from the Lae main wharf up.
He attributed the lucky escape to God’s grace and prayer and communion with Him was essential for blessings and protection.
“Everyone on the bus should have thanked God, but instead, they started shouting and swearing at the bus driver,” he said.
“Every day, pray before you leave your house. Also, if you have a pocket bible, carry it with you because God’s words are a shield, it is there to remind and protect us.
“Christians should always pray before they do their daily and weekly chores. Always walk with Christ because such an accident and incident would happen anytime.”
Ninchib said prayer and the bible needed to be considered as a tool to be used to help man meet life’s challenges.
