THE Electoral Commission has advised eligible voters to confirm and update their enrolment with respective provincial and district election managers.

The update of the electoral roll is underway, in preparation of the coming general elections next year.

And that requires cooperation from eligible voters to confirm their participation to mandate their political leaders.

An electoral commission officer also added that the update of electoral rolls needed accurate information so that all citizens who were eligible voters needed to exercise their democratic right to vote.

Speaking on conditions of anonymity, the officer said the issues of corruption by leaders would not be addressed unless all eligible voters decided on the type of leadership they wanted in the country.

It has been a norm that most corrupt MPs were given the opportunity by voters during the once-in- five-years exercising of their democratic rights.

“The only weapon that the victims of corruption can wield is to enroll to have the power to vote out the corrupt leaders,” he said.

Those who are 18 years of age and over can enroll to participate in voting next year.
