NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has called for a free, fair and successful Motu-Koita LLG election when he handed over a cheque for K300,000 to the Electoral Commission yesterday.

Parkop said NCDC was supporting the Motu-Koita people to ensure they exercised their democratic rights. He urged them to choose their leaders wisely.

He said the Motu-Koita Assembly, an autonomous government, was directly responsible for funding its LLG elections with support from the national Government but there had been funding issues.

Electoral Commissioner Andrew Trawen said: “I’m very excited by the support from NCDC for the Motu-Koita elections. It has come at a time when we have issues with paying our service providers.”

Trawen said the majority of the provincial administrations had provided funding support to run their LLG elections.
