THE Electoral Commission is conducting training for election officials in Morobe in preparation for next year’s general election.
The three-day training was launched by provincial programme adviser for local government affairs Roy Nalab in Lae.
The second-level training was for returning officers, their assistants and local level government managers.
Morobe election Manager Simon Soheke said the purpose of the training was to prepare them for the general election, and impart knowledge and skills in updating the common roll in their respective electorates.
Soheke stressed the values, legal functions and framework of the commission, its code of ethics and the laws which needed to be observed.
The training ends tomorrow.
