PARTS of Lae city were affected yesterday with low water pressure and after one of Water PNG’s main draw bores was hit by an electrical fault. It is  and is expected to return to normal today.
Some affected business houses and residents complained of having smelly toilets and no water.
Attempts to get comments from Water PNG were unsuccessful but the Lae chamber of commerce and industries was notified by Water PNG senior manager Joe Agavi that “bore number two succumbed to an electrical fault”.
In his email to chamber president Allan McLay, Agavi said the firm’s technical team was replacing the burnt bore pump with the help of contractors and PNG Power.
“As a result of this, low pressure will be experienced in high altitude areas, until this bore is up and running. An added cause to low pressure is that we have had a few breakages in our lines due to road work contractors,” he said.
“We expect all to be restored tomorrow morning.”
