The National, Friday 03rd Febuary 2012

ELEVEN participants turned up at the Port Moresby Gun club at Waigani to try their skills in archery at the Port Moresby Archery Club’s open day.
After registering and being shown the basics of shooting an arrow they lined up on the shooting line to attempt to hit balloons tied to the targets.
There was a gentle breeze blowing fortunately but at the end of the elimination round two experienced archers were left to vie for the K50 prize money. Moses Hombhanje eliminated Evelyn Ano by shooting two of his three balloons as Evelyn could only manage one of her three.
Thereafter another short competition took place where archers were tasked once again to shoot balloon which this time held some money. Five winners walked away smiling at the end of the activity.
The open day was organised as a fun way to introduce inexperienced archers to the sport.
Although the response was low in numbers those who participated enjoyed the event and the BBQ lunch that followed.
Port Moresby Archery Club vice-president Linus Toleva thanked the participants for competing and gun club for sharing their venue.
