ROY Elison will make his SP Hunters debut on the wing against the Tweed Head Seagulls in round 14 of the Queensland Intrust Super Cup in Port Moresby on Sunday.
The Mendi Muruks flyer replaces Gairo Kapana who has being left out of the side.
“He’s really humble,” Hunters assistant coach Roderick Puname said yesterday.
“I think he really deserves his place on the wing and he’s hoping to make the most of his opportunity.”
Jerry Teme starts at five-eighth after he was called into the starting line-up to replace Ase Boas who has being ruled out for this weekend’s match due to a collarbone and neck injury sustained in Sunday’s 34-26 loss to the Mackay Cutter.
In the forwards, Ila Alu makes his return on the Hunters bench where he will be joined alongside Stanton Albert who had first match on Sunday after eight weeks on the sidelines due to a knee injury.
Puname was satisfied with the team’s second-half performance last Sunday despite the loss.
“The positive from last week’s match was the second half. It was everything we had planned,” he said.
“In the first half, we let ourselves down a little bit and some of the options we took at the end of our sets were poor.
“The boys did well in the second half. We stuck to what we said we were going to do during the halftime break but we were just unfortunate that we got Charlie (Simon) sent to the bin and it took us away from the game.”
