THE PNG Men’s Basketball League has number of future potential stars named in the train-on squad.

These youngsters have represented Team NCD and the PNG Under-19s and it will be interesting to see how many secure spots in the final squad.

The young players selected are Tamaraws’ Gabriel Elavo; Jokers’ Daniel Aila Kone, Garry Holmes Suve; Exodus’ Bomai Muri and Chariots’ Jonathan Ruhi and Elwyn Salesi. 

Meanwhile experienced players make up the rest of the squad in former internationals Harold and Joe Elavo, Soi Moses Benny (Jokers), Apia and Purari Muri, Peter Davani, Slieve Mohu (Exodus), Lawrence Lahari, Sibona Kala, Tony Haro, Robin Melepia, Donald Kala (Saints), Wally and Charles Parapa, Robert Kave, Richard Arava (Tamaraws), Roy Gime, Morris Vele, Ivan Pekaea  (Chariots).

Several players struggled with their match fitness during the opening two rounds of the PMBL but managed to get selected on the recomendation of their club coaches.

The surprise exclusion has been the in-form Dia Muri who missed the cut. 

The PMBL team will make its maiden appearance at the National All Stars championship in Lae from July 19-21.

PMBL Commissioner Larry Miro Junior said applications are now open for the positions of coach, assistant coach and team manager submitted to email: [email protected].

Miro said All Stars training squad would start training on Saturday and Sunday at 5.30am at Hohola basketball court.
