THE Korean Embassy will stage its fourth taekwondo tournament in Port Moresby this weekend.
The embassy, in association with the PNG Taekwondo Federation and Caritas Technical School, will be hosting the Korean Ambassador’s Cup tournament on Saturday at Caritas Secondary School.
Tournament director Jack Karo Jr said the tournament was aimed at promoting taekwondo in the country for its culture and values, including courtesy and integrity.
He said the tournament would help them to identify and prepare local fighters for upcoming international events.
Karo said the tournament would see over 90 participants in both the men’s and women’s divisions, ranging from blue to black belts.
The majority of the fighters registered for the tournament are from Port Moresby and include athletes in the national development squad.
He said there would be fees charged at the gate — K5 for adults, and K3 for children and students with ID cards.
