Embracing democracy was a mistake

Managing a young country with more than six million people living in a multi-cultural society in a country that is geographically challenging is a big challenge.
In my opinion, the first mistake we did was to embrace a fully democratic government and the result was instability in the government.
For a country with more than 800 cultures and languages, and living mostly in primitive conditions, to adapt and adopt western civilisation and democracy overnight was not the right choice.
An annual budget of K10 billion is not sufficient but if that was what I am given, I would allocate 20% each to national education, job opportunities and infrastructure.
When a person is educated and has the means to earn a living, health, law and order, poverty and standard of living are automatically taken care of.
If PNG wants to increase its GDP, then the government must play its part by providing basic infrastructure such as roads, telecommunication, electricity, etc.
