FORMER Lae Tigers second-rower Tiger Emere joined Waghi Tumbe last month after pre-season stints with Enga Mioks and Kimbe Cutters.
The former SP Hunter had played in four grand finals with the Lae Biscuit Company-sponsored Tigers and won two of them before he left the club at the end of last year.
Tumbe chairman Paul Tumun told The National yesterday that Emere was an experienced forward at the Digicel Cup level.
Tumun said the two-time premiership winner would add quality to their pack this season.
“We really needed experience in our forwards and Tiger brings a lot of that to our team,” Tumun said.
“He has played two games with us now. His recent game was last week against Enga Mioks.
“Seeing Tiger play alongside another veteran in the competition, Supa Kokote, really gives our team the boost we need.”
Tumun said Tumbe were making progress as a top-four contender due to the quality of players they had.
“We are fortunate to have a really good playing group and coaching staff,” he said.
