Emergency services need improvement

Letters

AS a former aviation staff, I am deeply saddened at the recent air crash in Morobe, in which an Australian pilot lost his life.
The family of the late pilot would ask if this was avoidable.
Back-up service in PNG is not there to minimise the impact, at least in the loss of lives, of these almost all air accidents across our country.
This is not time to point fingers.
However, it would be best to take responsibility and acknowledge this massive weakness in the connectivity of the minimal resources across all similar sectors of PNG.
Have some arrangements in place to help in responding to such accidents within 24 hours.
We, as a country, have a massive job to do towards pulling emergency response together.
I hope investigation reports do look seriously on how this could be improved.
If not setting things up, then at least getting some networking between stakeholders – from community levels all the way through to international bodies.
It is too late on the life of this particular pilot.
How about many accidents waiting to happen, both manmade and natural?
