Emperador sit out PMBL ’18

Emperador will not be playing in the Papua New Guinea Men’s Basketball League (PMBL) this season which starts on April 8 at the Taurama Aquatic Indoor Complex in Port Moresby.
Moni Plus (formerly Tamaraws), KSS Flames, Superior Coffee Saints, Chariots and Exodus have confirmed their participation.
The 2K Tigers are yet to confirm their participation in the semi-professional competition which heads into its fifth season.
Emperador will, however, assist in opening the season with three-point and slam dunk competitions.
Franchise owner Eddie Salazar likened the competitions to an NBA event.
“It will be very exciting as this will be the first time it will be happening in the history of basketball in PNG,” Salazar said.
PMBL chairman Lawrence Lahari said Exodus were making a comeback after a year’s absence.
Exodus, under the watch of former basketball player Moses Koiri, are preparing to give the other teams a run for their money this season.
Former PNG basketballer Peter Davani is likely to lead the team.
