Employing locals

Letters

IT seems Ok Tedi Mining Ltd (OTML), Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) and many other companies in Western are shunning away from employing educated intellectual locals from the province.
I have written so many expressions of interests and applied to many advertised positions but seem to be getting no response at all; not even an acknowledgement stating receipt of my application documents.
Many educated locals who are employed are systematically suppressed to prevent them from assuming senior management positions.
The internal succession plans seem to be focused on people from other provinces.
In the same vein, can the Government appoint educated and qualified locals from Western to the boards and senior executive positions of its statutory agencies and departments in the mining and petroleum sectors?
In general, the people of Western are cunningly suppressed from assuming senior management roles so that outsiders with vested interests can continue to loot and plunder their God-given wealth and inheritances to feed their greed.
I would like to appeal to all the children of Western who are schooling from elementary schools right up to tertiary institutions to study hard and become a force to rescue the province from this systematic suppression.
Only the late Sir Ebia Olewale assumed the position of deputy prime pinister during his political career in the pre-independence era.
Finally, I challenge everyone from Western to give education utmost priority as it is the only key that can cause a profound change in the destiny of the province.
