ISLANDS Petroleum, the exclusive distributors of ExxonMobil lubricants, are involving themselves in a community drive donating empty drums to set a clean and healthy environment to prevent cholera and dysentery.
The company yesterday donated 50 empty drums to Bulolo and Wau townships to be placed in public places as bins.
While donating the drums to Bulolo MP Sam Basil, Islands Petroleum general manager Shehab Das said the company had a moral obligation to communities.
“We are conscious about the communities’ health, hygiene and sanitation and the drums can be used for proper rubbish disposal purposes to prevent dysentery and cholera,” Mr Das said.
The company had donated 40 drums to Lae city council and another 15 to Lae Secondary School.
While appreciating the assistance, Mr Basil said the donation of 50 drums showed the company’s concern and care about the communities need for good clean environment.
