WITH the ever-popular Australian State of Origin rugby league series Game 1 tomorrow night, television viewers in Lae are uptight and worried they will miss viewing this match with the continuing non-coverage fault affecting the EMTV telecast in and around the city since last week might.
Diehard supporters of both the Maroons and Blues were calling from everywhere to find out what went wrong and if something can be done about the situation because, as one caller puts it, “… we just cannot afford to miss the first game.”
The fan, a teacher from Busu Secondary School in Lae, called to ask what went wrong and if anything could be done to have the transmission fault fixed before tomorrow.
A quick call to the EMTV studio in Port Moresby last night revealed that a decoder was faulty at one of the relay stations in Lae.
The person who took the call at EMTV gave the assurance that a technician would be travelling to Lae to fix the problem and hopefully have it fixed by today.
He also admitted, however, that the first game is a “must see” match and EMTV would do all it could so that its viewers in Lae do not miss game 1 of the origin matches.
EMTV is a division of Media Niugini Ltd.
