ENB census preparation underway

PREPARATIONS for the national population and housing census have commenced in East New Britain.
LLG managers commenced a three-day training session conducted by national statistics officers yesterday.
The LLG managers will be co-coordinating all census operations in their respective LLGs under the supervision of the ENB provincial census co-coordinator Komet Malari.
Mr Malari said by the end of the workshop, LLG managers would be able to update the provincial records of 368 wards and 755 census units.
“Due to time constraints, the province has set up two census committees.
“The ENB provincial steering committee is to be headed by deputy provincial administrator  coordination and implementation officer Stanley Maroro and the provincial census implementation committee is to be chaired by the planning and research adviser Levi Mano,” he said.
Mr Malari said the first phase of the census operation would cover the updating of all census units, updating of the census maps and the actual listing exercise.
“If the first phase is covered well, the census enumeration exercise in July will be made easy,” he said.
