POLICE in East New Britain will head into the Christmas operations soon after the province recently ended a Coronavirus (Covid-19) lockdown last Monday.
With Christmas Day three weeks away, police have encouraged town residents and those in the districts to celebrate responsibly and peacefully.
Provincial police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali said on Friday that his police operation team in Kokopo would be briefed and prepared to launch operations in the province.
He said he would have a briefing with all section heads and officers in-charge in the province for their Christmas and New Year operations.
Chief Insp Tabali said early Christmas and New Year operations were lead-up preparation for next year’s general elections and minimising law and order issues were expected to increase during the Christmas and New Year period. “After the Christmas and New Year operations, my team will continue with the operation to ensure that people follow the law,” he said.
“We will also be doing election awareness in local level governments and all the wards as our pre-election operation awareness.”
