EAST New Britain Copra and Cocoa Co-operative Society Ltd Kada Lama shipped 2,015 metric tonnes of copra to overseas markets last weekend.
Group general manager Elias Wesley said this was the largest shipment quantity by the society since starting business last February.
This volume exceeded the largest parcel shipped last November of 1,709 metric tonnes.
The society has experienced an increase in daily intakes of copra at its three depots after paying the volume rebates for last year on Aug 13 this year.
Wesley said the total rebate paid to copra farmers was K89,000 which was based on a rebate policy approved by the board of Kada Lama with rebates for this year to be paid by next Feb 15.
He said the board and management were excited about returning the ownership of this industry in ENB to farmers and were working around the clock to ensure that a copra processing plant was built for the farmers of co-operative society at Ulaveo.
Wesley called on all stakeholders at the provincial and national levels to assist wherever possible.
