FUN activities have been planned for the Queen’s birthday weekend in East New Britain.

A rock band party, the Kokopo-to-Rabaul bicycle race and a waiters’ race are part of weekend celebrations. The GoGo Cola-sponsored event starts on Saturday June 8 to Monday June 10.

According the Pacific Industries, a number of community groups are helping create family participation and spectator events and one general entertainment night.

“The aim is to create a safe and healthy family event that all members of the community can be involved in,” the company said.

Kicking off the celebrations on Saturday is the GoGo Cola rock band party at the Rabaul Hotel. A feast of local tunes, entertainment and prizes are up for grabs.

Sunday sees the staging of the GoGo Cola waiters’ race from the Rabaul Yacht Club foreshore to the Rabaul Hotel.

Participants over the age of 18 in the men and women categories are invited to register at the PI office in Kokopo or Rabaul.

Monday will see the three-hour GoGo Cola bike race from the Kalabond oval in Kokopo to the Rabaul hotel, according to company representative John Lawson. The race starts at 9am at the Takubar sports field, riding through Kokopo, finishing outside the Rabaul Hotel.
