THE establishment of a provincial headquarters to accommodate all public servants in East New Britain has been endorsed as an impact project.
Governor Nakikus Konga, said during the provincial executive council meeting last week that the establishment of the office was among projects endorsed.
He said these projects would be a catalyst for development in the province.
When he handed down the 2018 provincial budget late last year, Konga raised concerns of the much-talked about headquarters which had not been put in place since 1994 when the volcanic eruptions devastated Rabaul town. Residents in the province had raised concerns on government departments renting space from companies because there was no headquarters.
Konga said the provincial headquarters would be built at Ralum in Kokopo town.
Other projects endorsed include the new Kokopo overhead bridge to address traffic congestion in Kokopo town, the appointment of a new chairman of the ENB Development Corporation, establishment of a policy to govern all NGO activities in ENB.
