THE first Islands regional workshop on the implementation of the provincial, district and local level government services improvement programmes will begin today in Kokopo, East New Britain.
The two-day workshop is facilitated by the National Office of Rural Development and about 100 public servants from New Ireland, West and East New Britain were expected attend.
Project coordinator Tony Sinba said yesterday that relevant stakeholders would also be participating.
He said the workshop was aimed at equipping participants to fully understand the processes and procedures contained in the administrative guidelines and financial instructions on the annual K10 million PSIP, K5 million DSIP and K500,000 LLGSIP.
Namatanai district administrator Abraham Alapi said the workshop would enable administrative officers to effectively expedite the programmes draw down from the national government.
