East New Britain police commander Joseph Tabali has urged his station commanders to file their quarterly, six months and annual management reports to the provincial headquarters.
Tabali told The National in Kokopo on Friday that the reports were important to improve and prioritise police service delivery to the communities.
Tabali said the annual reports were important to the provincial command and the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary as it would be used for budgeting and funding purposes.
He said the budgeting and funding would improve police service delivery in the province, district, local level government and ward levels.
Tabali said the report would also complement the provincial strategic management action plan for the provincial police command and aligning it with the New Guinea Islands regional strategic management plan.
“Crime statistic that have been provided by the three major police stations which include Kokopo, Rabaul and Kerevat are about the trend of serious and minor crime that are being committed,” Tabali said.
He said police needed to work in partnership with the communities to ensure and secure a safer community.
Tabali said to secure a safer community, reports filed by station commanders could help in finding that for the community.
He said it was important for station commanders to provide quarterly and yearly reports.
