EAST New Britain Governor Ereman ToBaining Jnr is calling on people in the province to mark the 37th independence anniversary in the right spirit of celebrations.
In his independence message, Tobaining appealed to people to make this long weekend a trouble-free one.
ToBaining Jnr wished everyone in the province a blessed 37th independence anniversary.
To help the province get into the spirit of celebrations, he bought national and provincial flags that are now being flown from Kokopo Secondary School to Vunapope.
He said that this was the pride of the province and nation and appealed to all citizens to take pride and ownership of the flags instead of destroying them.
“We should all learn from our past, live for today and prepare for tomorrow.”
ToBaining Jnr thanked God for seeing the country through the past 36 years of independence.
