Encourage SME sector

Letters

FOR the past decade or so Papua New Guinea government have been pressing on engage, support and promote Small Medium Enterprise (SME) throughout the country however this has taken a snail phase giving SME holders hardship as they compete with foreign businesses who reaps benefits through corrupt means.
Though government proposed initiatives to persuade, promote and engage locally owned businesses it is evidently the opposite.
Most SME’s are overlooked and business opportunities were given to foreign businesses through bribery and other corrupt means.
This in one way or the other affects the flow of capital and economy resulting the economy downfall.
Challenge now is on the government of the day either to promote and engage locally owned SME’s or continue benefiting foreign own businesses.
Taking actions will justify ‘Taking back of PNG’.
Hope the security issue on Manus Convention Center would be a break through for us SME’s holders.
