End of month pre-season sevens to start events for city rugby competition

THE National Capital District Rugby Union (NCDRU) competition announced the start of its 2022 season yesterday with a pre-season sevens to kick off on Jan 29.
NCDRU in a statement said the start of season 2022 came after the launch of the PNG Rugby Union calendar.
“With the launch of PNGRU 2022 Rugby Calendar, we at NCDRU are gearing up to jump right on it and will be starting our competition this month,” the union said.
“We start with our preseason sevens on Jan 29 leading us into our season proper in the coming months.
“We will adhere to all Coronavirus (Covid-19) protocols to ensure the safety of everyone in our competition.
“Time to get busy in your clubs and catchment teams, because we will be looking for talent this year to remain competitive in the domestic and national arenas.”
NCDRU also called on interested teams in Port Moresby to send their expression of interests for the new season with deadline for new and old teams to competition due by Jan 22.
“If you have a team (street/community) or club that wants to be a big player in this season’s NCDRU competition than email us your expression of interest in letters to [email protected].”
“Things to disclose in the letter are the number of players, age ranges, grades (premier, A-grade, B grade, Under-19s and women’s) and catchment area or community.
“We look forward to a great year of rugby.”
