CHIEF Justice Sir Salamo Injia has called on police and prison officers to enforce the orders of the courts.

Injia made the call during the opening of the legal year at the Nazarene Church at Gordon in Port Moresby yesterday.

Injia called on police and prison officers to work with the judiciary in upholding the law in the country.

The day began with a march led by the combined police and prison band from Ela Murray International School to the Nazarene Church.

Sir Salamo inspected a guard of honour with Court Registrar Ian Augerea

The ceremony was attended by judges, magistrates, lawyers, judiciary staff and members of the public.

An ecumenical service was held for members of the legal profession to dedicate the legal year to God.

Senior Pastor of the Nazarene Church Murdua Kagl told members of the legal fraternity to put Jesus first in all they did.

Sir Salamo said it was a tradition since Independence to have a dedication service.

Defence Force commander Brig-Gen Gilbert Toropo, Chief Ombudsman Rigo Lua and NCD Governor Powes Parkop attended.
