I REFER to the Grade 10 national examinations performance in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
I am a second year in-service student at the University of Goroka.
I am currently taking one of the education courses (EPG 426 – school-based monitoring and evaluation).
In this course, we discussed the students’ performance by province using the updates from the Measurement Services Unit (MSU).
While comparing the results by province, especially the Rating Index and Mean Rating Index (RI and MRI), I am surprised to see that Enga is doing extremely well.
The other 19 provinces are not performing consistently but Enga is performing above the average level and the MRI are as follows: in 2007 the MRI was 57, 2008 58 and 2009 61.
From the data, Enga has shown a great improvement in its performance and is competing well against provinces like NCD, WHP, EHP and Madang.
I am not from Enga but I am very pleased with its performance.
I would like to commend Enga Governor Peter Ipatas for his effective policies in supporting human resource development and other stakeholders in the province who have contributed tirelessly in the education sector.
I strongly believe that Enga will be one of the leading provinces in the country.
Keep it up Engans.
