ENGA province will start enrolling students in a new technical high school next year.
The Enga provincial education board approved the conversion of an existing vocational school in Mereimanda to a technical high school.
Mereimanda is in the Ambum district of Enga province.
The main objective of the new technical high school is to provide intensive training to students in technical trades like motor mechanic, electrical, electronic, plumbing, welding and other such field.
Provincial education adviser Robert Ganim said the aim was to equip students with technical skills that would help them to be resourceful if they could not continue to Grade 11 and 12.
He said the Enga provincial government and Kompiam-Ambum MP John Pundari allocated K1.4 million to arrange teaching materials including recruitment of teachers to start the new school.
Mr Ganim said he had also instructed his education officers in Wabag to prepare teachers and other resources for the new high school.
Starting next year, the technical high school will begin enrolling students.
