Enga’s non-participation a shock
The National, Wednesday 28th November, 2012
I REFER to your report about Enga’s non-participation at the 5th PNG Games in Kokopo (Nov 21).
Although a small contingent did finally make it, the attitude by the Enga provincial leaders is wrong.
The governor’s statement on why he should fund the team’s expenses is a joke and a slap in the face.
Does Enga have a provincial administrator and a sports coordinator?
What is happening with the administrator and his team?
The governor cannot do everything himself and needs to delegate.
This is where the provincial administrator, sport coordinator and the rest of his professional management staff come in.
They should have prepared the groundwork first before seeking funding assistance from the governor.
My question is this – if Governor Peter Ipatas can spend millions of kina on rugby league, why can’t he approve the funds for Team Enga to participate in PNG Games in Kokopo?
Engans are committed and dedicated people who want to get themselves involved in whatever sporting events.
I am also disappointed that the five elected members of parliament have not shown any commitment to helping Engan athletes go to Kokopo.
This is another slap in the face for the people of
the province.
Where is the priority?
