Enga leaders unite for NID

ENGA has led the way for the registration of its people in the Government’s National Identity (NID) project.
It expects to have registered all 632,045 people in the province by year’s end following the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the Parliament House on Wednesday by its five district MPs, including Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, with the PNG Civil and Identity Registry.
The agreement will help see facilitation of the project in the districts.
Ipatas said that it was an important undertaking for the Enga government as the latest population data gathered from the project would be used for planning, growth of businesses and
effective service delivery in the province.
Wabag MP Dr Lino Tom, who was the first to help fund the project last year and whose district’s registration figure now stands at 23,000 as per the NID record, said that it was all about partnership and taking ownership to realise important government projects.
