LEADING car dealer Ela Motors, in agreement with Enga Governor Peter Ipatas, have ended their 17-year association with the Mioks.
In a statement released by the company’s national marketing manager Megan Taureka, the sponsorship which began in 1994 will no longer be extended for this season.
Taureka said Ela Motors national sales Manager, Rob McKeon congratulated Mioks chairman Robert Gamin and the board for their success over the years and wished the team well in 2012 and beyond.
In reviewing the organisations strategic sponsorship direction, McKeon said: “We have conducted a review of the company’s major sponsorship activities and wish to refocus in the areas of education and junior sport.
“Within these areas includes that of Governor Ipatas’s successful Enga education scheme.”
Ipatas thanked Ela Motors for their long sponsorship.
Mioks entered the finals for the first time in 2000 and have continued to be a competitive outfit.
He said he respected the corporate decision taken by the Ela Motors management and his team would move on.
The Enga provincial government will now fully sponsor the Mioks but Ipatas appealed to companies in the province to support his government in backing the Mioks team.
“We have invited companies from within and outside the province who want to back the Enga provincial team,” he said.
He said he would love to see Porgera, which is the biggest corporate citizen in the province, to come forward.
