THE Enga Mioks answered their critics with crushing 48-12 win over  Mt Hagen Eagles in Round 7 of the Digicel Cup yesterday in Wabag.

After a shock 14-12 loss last week to Gulf Isapea in Port Moresby, the Mioks were under pressure to perform at home – and they did.

Pasu Awani opened the game with a try after five minutes to take an early 6-0 lead.

The Eagles were put under pressure in the early part of the game when  Glen Abavu grabbed a long pass from fullback Jeffrey Maino to race away for an unconverted try to lead 10-0.

Eagles, who were coming off a  64-8 annihilation by the Gurias, were breached agin by Awani for the lead to race to 16-0.

Eagles captain Jason Tali and forwards Paul Keni, Mark Koim, Henry Wan and Billy Wama ran hard all day but found no weak spots in the Mioks line.

Andrew Sipil, Meninga Keith, David Loko and Awani, put in memorable performances in front of Kumul selector Anorld Krewenty who was at the match.

Maino scored two more tries for the Engans while Solo Kuim saved his colleagues from further embarrassment scoring a converted try to trail 28-6 at halftime.

Mioks were ruthless in the second  scoring 20 points through tries by Maino, Immanuel Saar, Abavu and Charles Martin while the Eagles could manage one try.
